Cantina Meraviglia was born from the Cariola’s quarry, which was used in the past to extract rhyolite, a material that was used to build road surfaces. Abandoned in the 80s, building the winery in the quarry also meant reclaiming and upgrading a part of the landscape.
The winery is built on three levels, following the natural orography of the quarry. With 7,000 m² of production and technological space, a panoramic terrace overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea and a green roof surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation.
The materials used, over 95% of which are locally sourced, and the construction systems adopted meet the highest standards of environmental sustainability.
The final result is a profound fusion between elements, a continuous dialogue between what existed and what was imagined and built. The architecture does not impose itself but adheres to the place.
